Murray Wright

Murray Wright

A little about me

Originally from Scotland, I worked in leadership roles in hotels in different parts of the world eventually ending up in Australia. I then worked in tertiary education, hotels, real estate and consulting. I been consulting and coaching for over 10 years.

Why I love coaching

Being coached myself not only saved my job, but it led me to where I can have the most impact on individuals, teams and the bigger world. It is enjoyable and challenging, which means I am constantly learning and adapting to grow as a coach but more importantly as a human being.

My coaching ethos

Then main thing I will do is create a space for you to pause and connect with yourself. From there it is about understanding what you need to work on and the best way to go about it. At the end of a session I would hope that you have new awareness and clarity that brings you energy and commitment to doing something differently.

Some of the common things I have worked with people on are re-connecting to their self-confidence, getting out of the busyness, setting priorities and getting things done, managing relationships with peers and bosses, building better engagement with their teams and developing plans to transition from operational to strategic roles and identifying the key relationships and how to manage them.

My approach is dynamic underpinned by contemporary approaches including systems work, narrative coaching and mindfulness.

Industry experience

Hospitality, Real Estate, FMCG, Recruitment, Not-for-Profit, Associations telecommunications, Finance, Insurance, Property Services and Government including work in South-East Asia and the Pacific.

"I’ve learnt to be more confident in my own abilities, and to make sure I apply my skills on a more consistent basis. It has been useful to see where my strengths and particularly my weaknesses lie, so I can work on improving in specific areas of performance."

Michael Bleasdale

CEO Moda Home Modifications Australia

"I've been incredibly fortunate to be coached by Murray for the past few years. Murray is able to draw upon both his intellectual study and professional experience of leadership to coach with authenticity and empathy. Murray is engaging and personable, he's thoughtful and productive during (and outside of) sessions - he steadily built his understanding and always seems to stay curious of me, although always discussing with candor, never preaches, assumes or judges. I've made great improvements across personal and professional relationships thanks to Murray's insights. He's provided me the thoughts, tools and frameworks that not just build my leadership skills, but enable me to be congniscant for myself - to be my own coach. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Murray to anyone who wants to truly unpack themselves and unlock their potential."
