We work to change the people who we lead. We set up systems and processes, we instigate training and we define the values and look to create the culture.
This is all good, but what else has to change?
Our thinking and behaviour.
If we (individuals and teams) do not think differently and behave differently things will not change.
So when creating your vision of how things will be and you look 6 months or a year ahead; ask yourself “how will I think differently and what will be different about my behaviour ?” This is where you will find real change.
The Buddha gives us some food for thought in regard to this:
“The thought manifests the word:
The word manifests as the deed;
The deed develops into habit;
And habit hardens into character.
So watch the thought and its ways with care...
As the shadow follows the body
As we think, so we become.”
